Sandy and Joan Pirie’s Machrihanish Farm was crowned the best overall of the six teams entered in Kintyre Holstein Breeders’ annual heifer competition.

The Piries also scooped the top place in the team and individual categories.

The recent competition, sponsored by Genus, was judged by Ewan Lawrie from Grangehall Farm, Lanark.

Results: Teams: 1 Machrihanish Farm, 2 Trodigal Farm, 3 Kilmaho Farm. Individual: 1 Machrihanish Farm, 2 Trodigal Farm, 3 Kilkeddan. Dam and daughter: 1 West Backs, 2 Trodigal, 3 Kilkeddan. Progeny group: 1 Kilmaho Farm, 2 Trodigal, 3 Machrihanish. Special new exhibitor prize: Coledrain Farm. Overall: 1 Machrihanish Farm, 2 Trodigal Farm, 3 Kilmaho Farm.
