Rhuvaal is one of the up and coming west coast bands and one of its members, guitarist Arran McAllister, volunteered at a Campbeltown event.

Last Saturday afternoon Arran joined his uncle, Alex McAllister and many other volunteers, giving up their spare time, to make sure the Campbeltown Community Council senior citizens party went with a bang.

Two other volunteers’ service is recognised on page three.  Stuart Crossan fully deserves his Glasgow Sports Volunteer of the Year award.

Mr Crossan gives up hours of his free-time to ensure the footballing youngsters of Pollock United have the best experience possible.

On Monday Kintyre Wheelers Cycling Club met to discuss its first ever End of the World event just three months away.

In early March, its secretary will spend a weekend voluntarily at the Scottish Outdoor Pursuits show.

Organiser Robbie Semple, an army reservist sergeant and his committee have been pulling the national level event together for two months..

Semple competed in the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy motorcycle races as a sidecar passenger. Since 1907,  it has run with clockwork precision.
