Sir,

It is outrageous that people may be starving while Tory MPs decide how cheaply they can run Universal Credit.

This is done to scrape together enough money to spend billions on unneeded nuclear weapons.

It would be better to look after the nation’s poor.

An independent Scotland, managing its own financial affairs, would be better off.

Scotland is one of the world’s wealthiest countries, but much wealth goes to London’s treasury.

If independent, Scotland would retain that wealth to alleviate poverty.
