Many members of Southend SWI enjoyed a traditional turkey dinner at the group’s Christmas party.

A good number turned out for the annual event held in Muneroy Tearoom in December.

A spokesperson said: ‘The food was delicious as usual – the famous meringues made a festive appearance along with the biggest chocolate cake ever.

‘The ladies thoroughly enjoyed their meal and were happy to get involved in the Christmas party games of pass the parcel and the heads and tails game.’

After a couple of amusing sketches by some of the committee, hostess Frances Hill judged the competition entries as follows: Christmas patchwork table runner: Jen Ronald, gold; Alison Eynon, gold; MJ Paterson, silver. Photograph of a robin: Alyson Eynon, gold; Margaret Bakes, gold; Fiona Rowland, silver; MJ Paterson, silver.

Mrs Rowland took the opportunity to thank Frances and her husband Iain and their staff for the great food and service and wished all members a very merry Christmas.
