A wet and windswept day made for a stern challenge for the group of intrepid Dunaverty Heidbangers, on the final day of their year long season, in pursuit of the coveted Heidbangers Cup.
Only three of the group were in with a realistic chance of lifting the trophy.
The scoring system was based on three points for a win, two for second place and one for each time they played up to a maximum of 26.
Going into this last day Danny Halliday with three wins and two seconds led by three points from Neil Brodie and Sandy Watson.
The conditions took their toll on these three but Danny held on to his lead to become a worthy winner of the cup.
Scores on the day were quite low with Don Hardman leading the pack on 31 points but it was left to Willy Ralston, playing in the last group, to win with 35 points.
Greenkeepers David Scullion and Robert Irvine, despite the adverse weather of the last few weeks, had the course in excellent condition.
The group retired to the Muneroy Tearoom were they had a wonderful meal prepared by Francis Hill.
Day’s results: 1 Willy Ralston 35 points, 2 Don Hardman 31, 3 Robin Finlay 29, 4 John Dickenson 27(bih), 5 Neil Brodie 27.
