The Health and Social Care Partnership is highlighting its addictions’ service.
Both Argyll and Bute addiction team and Addaction deliver a range of treatment and support services throughout Kintyre.
Craig McNally, Argyll and Bute Alcohol and Drug Partnership coordinator said: ‘Recovery happens every day for people across Argyll and services support people at every stage.
‘It’s important that people feel confident they will be seen quickly when they refer themselves, or are referred by others, to a drug and alcohol support service.
Leslie Mackay at Argyll and Bute Alcohol and Drug Team (ABAT) added: ‘It’s recognised that while a person’s recovery journey has to start somewhere it is best if they can get speedy access to services.
‘Taking the first step towards recovery can be the most difficult.’
John Scullion from Addaction gave an example of how joint working and a quick turnaround from referral to service delivery helped a client.
John said: ‘I met the client really quickly due to collaborative inter-agency working between statutory and voluntary sectors.
‘With some initial support the person made informed choices in shaping and developing their recovery journey and in making their positive life changing decisions.
‘The former addict is doing well and helping others in the community.’
