On Tuesday November 6 Caledonian Marts sold 1769 prime lambs, ewes and tups.

All Classes of good quality lambs would be firmer on the week, with fatty types slightly easier on the week.

Biggest rise were the 39-44kg lambs which averaged £73.28 or 170.4p (+£3.54 on the week).

Overall sale average for 1293 sold was 163.17p (+2p on the week). SQQ lambs averaged 168.7p (+8p on the week).

Top price of the day went to Doune Farms, West Lundie at £95 for an outstanding 60kg Beltex lamb.

Top price per kg went to W S Young & Son, Mawcarse at 209ppkg for a cracking 43kg Beltex Lamb.

Lambs Prices per Kg: Beltex 205p Mawcarse, Beltex X 205p and 202p Meikle Seggie, Cont 202p Blairgorts, Cont X 202p Wester Ochtermuthill, Texel 200p The Moor and Bankhead, Suffolk  173p Treetops, Chev 170p Dullomuir, Mule 154p Hillhead, BF 156p Burnside of Balhaldie.

Also forward were 476 cast ewes and tups.

Well fleshed ewes were sharper on the week. Heavy ewes sold to £91 on two occasions from J Heggie, Carden, Fossoway and from Avoncrook Farmers, Westfield.
