Caledonian Marts Ltd sold 187 cattle and 253 sheep at its annual autumn sale on Islay.
A feature at the October 19 sale was a consignment of 81 calves from Ardtalla Estate from which a Charolais bullock was sold to Andrew Dunn, Redhall, topping the sale at £1,020.
Ardtalla’s Charolais bullocks averaged £723, +£117 on the year, with their heifers averaging £570, +£30 on the year.
The top price heifer at the sale was consigned by M. McMillan, Balliemartin, for a pen of three Limousins at £720.
