Competitive cyclists should be gearing up for Kintyre Wheelers Cycling Club’s final time trial before winter.

The format of the MACC event, next Sunday, October 7, will be as usual, but with the option to ‘double your distance’ and with a mass start.

The event itinerary is as follows: registration, 10am; sighting lap, 10.20am; 20-mile TT starts, 10.35am; 10-mile TT starts, 10.37am.

There will be a ‘tea, coffee, cake and blether break’, with warm kit advised for time spent standing around.

Organisers also plan to do some taster rides, to establish the potential for future events.

The club has announced its winter training overview, with training to include some hill climb events, and mountain bike/cyclocross rides, maintenance training events and, when the weather suits, club rides.

Looking back at the club’s growth in the last year, organiser Robbie Semple said: ‘We have had great success with the four MACC TT events with an average of 20 riders each time.’

Mr Semple has applied to Sportscotland for assistance in training club coaches and ride leaders, which he says will ‘help develop and benefit everyone in the future’.
