A Campbeltown hotel scored the winning bid in an auction to sponsor youth football kit.

At 5pm on Tuesday, the Ardshiel Hotel’s Marion McInnes and Flora Grant’s late bid of £1,400 secured a deal to sponsor 175 training kits for Campbeltown and District Juvenile Football Association, incorporating Campbeltown Pupils Youth FC (CDJFA).

On Monday evening, Food for Thought was in pole position, with a bid of £1,000, in the hotly contested auction also supported by Campbeltown Motor Company and McFadyen Contractors Ltd.

CDJFA opened the online bidding at £500 on September 22.

A CDJFA committee spokesperson said: ‘Thanks to Marion and Flora and to all who helped promote this and to all the bidders.’

On Facebook Alison Semple wrote: ‘Thanks to everybody who supported our fundraising events over the past session.

‘Between our sponsored walk and P1 fundraising event, an amazing total of £2,053 has been raised.’

‘This is outstanding and the money raised will be put to good use by coaches at CDJFA.’
