This year the popular MOK Fest event Doon The Green has a new name – and a new venue.

The event, now called Up The Close, will be held in Springbank Distillery on the afternoon of Saturday August 11. It runs from 1pm to 5pm and will have donation boxes at the entrance.

The event has been held under a number of guises, starting out as Harbour Splash Day in the mid 90s before moving to Kinloch Green in 2005.

But regardless of what it is called, organisers say the event will follow as close to its normal format as possible, with live music, dance performances and children’s entertainment.

Performing on stage will be; Deep Joy, The Twisted Melons and Treble Trouble.

There will also be dance performances from Footnotes and Steps, and children’s entertainment from Funky Chicken and friends in a dedicated children’s area.

There will be a slight reduction in the available space for voluntary stalls and food outlets, but many of these will now be covered by the awnings kindly provided by Explore Campbeltown and Springbank Distillers.

Most of the pitches are already booked but there are still a limited number left.

To book a space, email: mokfest@hotmail.co.uk or send a message on Facebook. Please note, if you have not pre-booked a stall, you cannot be guaranteed a space at the event.
