A beautiful spring day with plenty of sunshine and light winds helped Dunaverty’s golfers to post some very good scores in their annual Texas Scramble with one point separating the first three teams.

The teams of three were allocated 15 percent of their combined handicaps with players having to take a mandatory four drives each.

Leading the way in the morning session, the team of David MacBrayne, Neil Brodie and Lee Mathieson scored 54.8, half a  stroke ahead of John Marrison, and Fraser and Stuart MacBrayne.

Ken MacMillan, Robert Irvine and Donald MacNeil took full advantage of the afternoon’s continuing fine weather to record a winning total of 54.3.

Result: 1 Ken MacMillan, Robert Irvine, Donald MacNeil  59-4.7=54.3; 2 David MacBrayne, Neil Brodie, Lee Matheison 59-4.2=54.8; 3 John Marrison, Fraser MacBrayne, Stuart MacBrayne 61-5.7=55.3; 4 Alex Arkell, Jim Williamson, Steve Garrett 62-6.5=53.5; 5 Raymond Harvey, John Brown, Danny Halliday, 65-7.1= 57.9; 6 Campbell MacBrayne, John McKinlay, Alex Roxburgh 65-5.1=59.9.
