United Auctions held its annual May cattle and sheep sale at Oban Livestock Centre on Tuesday May 15.
A much increased entry attracted a large following of buyers and resulted in a satisfactory days trading with 217 head of cattle and 590 sheep sold.
Bullocks sold to average 254.15 pence per kilo or £709.38 per head whilst heifers levelled out at 221.96 pence per kilo or £661.55. Bullocks sold to 317.1 pence per kilo for Limousin Crosses from M/s Buchanan, Achnaba and to £1100 per head for Limousin Crosses also from M/s Campbell, Achnacreebeag. Heifers sold to 282.3 pence per kilo for Limousin Crosses from Achnacreebeag and to £945 per head from the same home. Breeding Cattle from Mr G MacCormick, Annet sold to £1700. In the sheep section, ewes with lambs at foot from M/s McCorkindale, Scammadale sold to £135. Mule hoggs from Mr D MacDonald, Tyree sold to £96.
