A planned Campbeltown community regatta has gained funding from Argyll and Bute council’s supporting communities fund.

Voting closed last week and the successful projects in Mid Argyll, Intyre and Islay are: Blarbuie Woodland Enterprise; Community Bus Running Costs; Community Regatta; Fèis an Tairbeirt; Islay and Jura Youth Wind Band; Islay House Community Garden; Kintyre Youth Cafe; Loch Fyne Pipe Band; Save Our Lunch Club; Tarbert – Our Castle of Kings; Tarbert Academy Forest Friends; Wildlife and Heritage Youth Activities and Youth Brass Championships.

The council’s policy lead for communities, Councillor Robin Currie: ‘We would like to thank everyone who submitted an application, and all those who voted – over 4,500 of you.

‘This year we have piloted a new approach and encouraged the people of Argyll and Bute to decide what projects should receive funding.

‘This fund is all about our communities and this money will make a huge difference to community groups and organisations throughout the area.’
