Sir,

As an experiment I studied this week’s Courier to find inspiration for a cartoon.

To be fair it was outside of my comfort zone. Like many weekly papers there is lots of do-gooderey, photos of locals, social events and minor offences but not much into which to sink your teeth.

I toyed with Alastair Redman on the joint board, but the Courier would not print what I had in mind. I considered the Tea Dance but anything I came up with would have been cruel to the handful of men present.

In the end I settled on the dogs shortly to be micro-chipped on Gigha.

Tony Williams,

Muasdale,

Kintyre.
