What irony! A few days after Argyll and Bute council planning committee’s very sad and disturbing agreement to permit Marine Harvest (MH) to impose a huge wrasse farm at the Gauldrons/Uisead Point, with five enormous buildings on the lovely unspoilt rural area, MH announces it will cut 34 jobs.
One of the points that our councillors made about the proposed wrasse farm at the Gauldrons/Uisead Point was that it would inject much needed jobs in the Campbeltown area.
Perhaps this convinced councillors to approve the appalling structures which will despoil the very special area just beyond Machrihanish.
Will these huge buildings be constructed in the hope of those jobs, be left empty and unused after all?
Terrible destruction will be imposed on this fragile and beautiful landscape for no reason whatsoever.
It is time to realise that the MH proposals should be terminated before the beautiful landscape is destroyed for buildings that may never be used.
