A Bellochantuy couple told members of the SWI a hair-raising tale of their motorbike tour of Europe, involving a crash, an attempted scam and a Romanian hospital visit.
SWI member Karen Kendrick and her husband Ian gave the Bellochantuy group a slide show of the tour, which took them to Greece.
Karen explained that travelling by motocycle made it difficult to keep to a timetable so, with no accommodation booked in advance, they stopped where ever they fancied.
They encountered a major problem on their return leg when they were involved in an ‘horrendous’ accident which appeared to have been an attempted scam.
Ian was injured and had to be extricated from under the bike.
An SWI member said: ‘It’s not an enviable situation to be in, finding yourself in a Romanian hospital where no English was spoken, but Karen and Ian coped thanks to the kindness of a local church minister.’
The bike had to be repatriated to Scotland.
SWI members were impressed by Karen and Ian’s fortitude during their adventurous trip.
