The wife of a former fisherman anchored Carradale’s response to the Nancy Glen tragedy.
Last Saturday night the village hall was packed as people raised money for the familes of Duncan MacDougall and Przemek Krawczyk at a fundraiser organised by Casey MacDougall.
Accordionist Alec Mckinnon warmed-up the dance floor before singer/songwriter Matt McAllister sung some powerful numbers and the night concluded with a disco.
‘I am so proud of Carradale’s response, sometimes I have cried at the generosity,’ said Casey MacDougall. ‘I have never organised something like this and I started to worry if everything would go alright.
‘My father-in-law was a former fishing skipper and the idea of running a fundraiser just came to me.
‘I spoke to Johnny Adamson and Jean Campbell, who lost her son Dougal John in the Antares.
‘It snowballed from there and has brought people together when they are hurting.
‘The total raised from the dance was £2,842.14 and I would love to thank all those involved in the planning.’
