Bellochantuy rural members hit the high notes during an evening of music and song.

The group’s new year programme started with an evening of Scottish music compiled by David McEwan.

Members listened to music by Malcolm Arnold and Mr McEwan highlighted sections of the score to note.

He accompanied a group sing of Scottish songs including one in Gaelic and one in Lowland Scots.

After tea Mr McEwan judged the competitions with the following results:

Baking: N. Semple – gold, M Littleson – silver, M McKinnon and B Young red. Handcraft: M McKinnon – gold, E Hemmings – silver, N Semple and P Fair – red. Fun: E Hemmings – gold, J Miller – silver, L Kerr – red.
