A town entrepreneur has been granted money to help unemployed people with a range of difficulties and disabilities to gain skills and experience.
Firstport’s social entrepreneurs fund awarded Gordon Allen’s Wee Toon Environmental Solutions (WTES) £25,000 in its latest round of funding.
WTES provide a range of environmental services to help people build confidence and self esteem and progress to longer term employment or further training.
Mr Allen is part of the Vital Spark programme, delivered by Firstport in partnership with InspirAlba and Unltd Scotland.
Since receiving two awards available through the Vital Spark programme, Mr Allen has been able to establish his venture, secure premises and buy a work van.
With the £25,000 Build It award, Mr Allen will be able to fund his own salary for a year.
Build It awards are for people who have piloted their idea.
Candidates can apply for up to £20, 000 funding and must demonstrate that their enterprise can generate income and deliver strong social outcomes.
