Sir,

As with the appalling UK Energy Strategy at Hinkley Point, wind and solar farms, Brexit, NHS, railways, the polluted air of towns and cities, local bank closures, interest rates, cuts to the army and air force, it is good to see the Government has its hands fully on the tiller regarding the defence of our seas.

What worthy  person or persons deem it an excellent idea to sell the aircraft carrier HMS Ocean to Brazil for £84million just four years after a £65 million refit?

It is superb far-sighted and forward planning – never mind, they say there is an awful lot of coffee in Brazil – so perhaps Government will now get a great discount on imported coffee beans, especially after Brexit?

We can sleep safely in our beds knowing that the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth enters service in 2021, just hoping our enemies put everything on hold and enjoy friendly cups of…er… coffee until then!

Dave Haskell,

Brithdir,

Brynawelon,

Cardigan.
