A judge from Badenheath, near Cumbernauld spent a day in Kintyre selecting the best heifers.
Gillian Rankin inspected four teams during the recently annual heifer competition. Unfortunately she was unable to stay for the traditional evening dinner at Ugadale.
Prizes were presented at Gartvaigh and vice chairman Andrew Ralston proposed a vote of thanks to all concerned in the day’s success.
The results were: Heifer team: 1 and Parker cup: Thomas Cameron, Gartvaigh, 2: J Barbour & Co, Machribeg, 3: Thos M Ralston & Sons, East Drumlemble. Progeny group: 1 and James & Son Quaich: J & M Barr, Clochkeil – Cuthill Towers Harry Potter, 2: East Drumlemble – East Drumlemble Jubilant, 3: Gartvaigh – Sandyford Lucky Charm. Mother and daughter: 1 and Ayrshire Breeders cup: Machribeg, 2: Gartvaigh, 3: Clochkeil. Individual heifer: 1 and Kintyre farmers cup: East Drumlemble – Tiger-Lily Ladd, 2: Gartvaigh – Sandyford Lucky Charm, 3: Clochkeil -Cuthill Towers Harry Potter. Butterfat: 1 and John Barr memorial tray: East Drumlemble, 2 and 3: Clochkeil.
