Residents and visitors to Campbeltown with nerves of steel have a unique chance to start 2018 in cool style.
The fifth annual new year’s day Dip For Dosh takes place on Monday (January 1) and sees intrepid swimmers, gather from 11.15am and plunge into Campbeltown’s icy loch in a bid to raise funds and awareness for the Dalintober beach restoration project.
Last year, 57 hardy dippers took to the sea in fancy dress and although some were quick to return to dry land, others enjoyed basking in the surprisingly pleasant water.
Spectators crowded onto North Shore Street to catch a glimpse of those crazy enough to take the plunge and took plenty of photographic and video evidence of their foolhardiness.
Let’s hope the sun shines the same in 2018 as it did this year, as at least two of the Courier’s staff will be taking to the water!
