I was astonished to read an Argyll and Bute council press release advising that there would be four drop-in events for people to see the plans and visions for Argyll and Bute for the future.
When I looked more closely at the press release I noted that the four events were to be in Helensburgh, Dunoon, Oban and Lochgilphead.
When I enquired why there were no plans to have a drop in session anywhere in Kintyre or the Islands I was informed that, as a result of budget cuts, agreed by the administration group it was decided that a saving could be made by omitting Kintyre and the Islands.
I further explained the additional difficulties on some parts of Kintyre and the Islands there is no broadband service so access to the online plans are not an option.
It has now been agreed to have a drop in event in the Burnett Building in Campbeltown on the November 30 from 4pm to 6pm and I would urge to people to attend and help make the local plan the best for their community.
I appreciate this has still not addressed the issue for the Islands and would hope that officers work to ensure some equity in Argyll and Bute.
