ELLIOT – Peacefully, in Niort Hospital, close to his home in France, on October 27, 2017, in his 83rd year, formerly of Lochgilphead and Achnamara, Albert, husband to Jean, father to Lyndsey and Karen, grandpa/gramps to grandchildren and great grandchildren. Loved by all and sorely missed.
MACLACHLAN – Peacefully, at Mid Argyll Hospital, Lochgilphead, on November 5, 2017, Anne MacLachlan, née MacNab, former Sister at Ward 2, Gartnavel Royal Hospital, Glasgow, and much respected nurse at Argyll and Bute Hospital, Lochgilphead, in her 79th year, beloved wife of the late James MacLachlan, dearly loved daughter of the late John and Mary MacNab, much loved sister of James and the late John and Archie, and a wonderful aunt to all the family. Funeral service was held at Tarbert Free Church, on November 9, interment thereafter at Achnabreac Cemetery.
MACRAE – Peacefully, on November 7, 2017, Agnes Mitchell MacRae (Nancy), née MacFarlane, in her 92nd year, of 30 Meadowburn Place, Campbeltown, beloved wife of the late Alistair MacRae, ex-Chief Inspector Strathclyde Police, beloved mother of Alison and Carol, much loved mother-in-law of Tom and David, cherished nanna of John, Grant, Laura, Caitlin, Kerry, Curtis and Brian and loved great grandmother of Jack, Morgan, Summer, Carys, Lila, Jay, Gavin and Shiloh. Funeral service to be held at Lorne and Lowland Church, on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 1.00pm, followed by interment at Kilkerran Cemetery. Family flowers only please. A retiral collection will be held for Lorne and Lowland Church.
MORRISON – Peacefully, at the Campbeltown Hospital, on November 4, 2017, Alexander Morrison, in his 86th year, 28a Davaar Avenue, Campbeltown, beloved husband of the late Sadie Brodie, much loved father of Raymond, Alexander, Christine, Martin, Pauline and the late Morag, Duncan and Helen, and a loving granda and great granda.
WELCH – Peacefully, on November 6, 2017, with his family by his side, Thomas David, aged 29, loving and devoted husband of Lauren and adoring daddy to Lomond. Beloved youngest son of David and Karen, cherished brother of Jonathan, Katy and Rebecca and brother-in-law to Coll and Cameron. Fun-loving uncle to Lilly, Georgia, Archie and Millie and loyal friend to so many. Funeral service at Lochgilphead Parish Church, led by Father David Connor, at 12.00 noon, on November 17, 2017, thereafter at Achnabreac Cemetery. Family flowers only, but donations if wished to the Butterfly Trust for cystic fibrosis. Rest in peace Thomas.
DIXON – Sheila, Alastair, Karen, Mairi and their families would like to thank all relatives, friends, neighbours, work colleagues and associates for their many kinds expressions of sympathy, support, flowers, cards, phone calls, visits and offers of help received following the recent sad loss of Bruce. Special thanks to ambulance staff, doctors, along with the staff of Dalmally Mart, for their valiant efforts to help Bruce. Our thanks are also extended to Belinda Braithwaite for a personal and appropriate service; to Donald MacDonald Funeral Directors for dignified funeral arrangements; to Graham Brown for his attendance and assistance; and to the Kilmartin Hotel for providing all catering and staff, particularly given the large numbers in attendance. Finally, our thanks to all who attended at church, marquee and graveside, in such large numbers, to pay their respects to Bruce and the family. Your support has been greatly appreciated. The retiral collection has raised over £1,600 for the Mid Argyll Show and RSABI.
MACINNES – Neil, David and Alan would like to thank family, friends and neighbours for all the cards, letters, phone calls and kind expressions of sympathy received following the sad loss of Margaret. Special thanks to all staff in the Glenaray Ward for their dedicated care of Margaret. Thanks also to Rev David Carruthers for his support and uplifting words of comfort and tribute. Thanks to Roddy MacDonald and staff for their guidance, support and professional services and also to the Grey Gull for excellent catering. The retiral collection raised £560 for the Liver Transplant Unit and MS Centre.
MINSHAW – Peggy, Andrew, Gillian and Lorna would like to thank all relatives, friends and neighbours for their expressions of sympathy and support during Alan’s long illness and after his death. Particular thanks to Grace Rae, and Maureen and John Campbell. They would also like to thank Rev P Wallace and Rev M McArthur for the excellent funeral services, and Kenneth and Rhys Blair for their kindness to us and attention to detail. Thank you also to the Ardshiel Hotel for the superb purvey. The retiral collection was for Argyll Scout Association and raised £1,411.75.
