Kintyre’s budding young dancers should follow in the footsteps of one Campbeltown girl and look to the Dance School of Scotland.
Based at Knightswood secondary school in Glasgow, the country’s only fully funded school for vocational dance and musical theatre training will hold an open day tomorrow (Saturday).
The school offers residential places for students who live in remote areas, and Campbeltown girl, Hannah Black, was one of the successful auditionees at the school aged 13.
She is now in her 5th year at the school studying for highers and a musical theatre diploma.
The ‘centre of excellence for dance and musical theatre’, which celebrates its 35th anniversary next year, provides more than 15 hours of specialist training a week, alongside a full academic curriculum.
The open day, for which no booking is required, will offer further information on the courses available and entry requirements, as well as an opportunity to view the facilities, watch typical classes and meet staff.
