A fundraiser tapped into the music and culture of the past two decades as she collected nearly £4,000 for charity.

Cheryl Brown, 28, one of five sisters and two brothers, had no trouble selling out her 90s and 00s house and club night which transformed Campbeltown town hall last Saturday.

Ms Brown trained in Glasgow and returned to the Wee Toon to set up a business two years ago.

She said: ‘I started fundraising for Prostate Cancer UK in June this year with a 90s and 00s quiz in the Burnside, followed by a pool competition at the Commercial and prize bingo at Argyll bowling club.

‘Live rockers Twisted Melons played a set and two DJs, Jamie G and Stephen Gorman gave their services free of charge.

Cheryl’s sister Debbie said: ‘This is charity is close to home and it has brought everyone together.’

Jamie G said: ‘I’d like to say thanks to Cheryl for inviting me to play a 90s set at her fundraiser. It was a cracking gig and a great charity, the dance floor was buzzing.’

Stephen Gorman said: ‘The best night oot in ages. Cheryl Brown you did brilliant to organise it.

‘I love the Toon full of madness and great people, I love it when the community comes together.’

Ms Brown added that she is already planning a further fundraiser on March 31 next year with Stone Roses tribute act Resurrection.
