A cheese product made in Campbeltown’s First Milk creamery, which was a firm favourite before it was discontined, has returned.
A truckle is a small round barrel of cheese, and Campbeltown’s mature cheddar version tickled the taste buds and was always a hit with customers until production stopped.
Now, after a number of years, Mull of Kintyre mature Scottish cheddar 200g truckles are back for sale at the creamery shop.
They are priced at £3 per truckle for the general public and £2 for creamery staff, farmer members and local businesses.
It will also be on sale in various other outlets throughout Kintyre.
A First Milk spokesperson said: ‘Local farmer producers are very pleased to see the return of the product, which was always popular locally.’
To celebrate the relaunch, the Mull of Kintyre cheddar Facebook page ran a competition to win an ultimate truckle hamper.
Those who liked the page, liked and shared the competition post, and tagged a friend, were entered into the contest and the winner will be drawn at random today, Friday October 27.
