A quartet of McArthurs from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada jetted into Kintyre last week on a genealogical tour.

John McArthur, 80, his wife Joyce, 77, thire son Mark, 51 and his wife Karen, 52, stepped into the Courier office when trying to find 32, Main Street.

John said: ‘My father Malcolm McArthur was born on February 5, 1907. On the birth certicficate my grandmother’s name is Jane Hunter McArthur and my grandfather John Stewart McArthur, he was a sjhipwright/journeyman.

‘My great grandmother Jane Hunter Girven died in 1965.’

‘Malcom was a blacksmith and emigrated to Canada. He passed away in 1966.

‘We are all getting older so I wanted to look into the family history.’
