The award-winning Mull of Kintyre cheddar will grace Argyll and Bute school menus.
The cheese is made at Campbeltown Creamery from the finest milk from dairy farmers in Kintyre.
Policy lead for corporate services, Councillor Rory Colville said: ‘By using Campbeltown Cheddar we are not only supporting the local economy, but our children are also getting some of the very best produce available.
‘Eight-hundred years ago Kintyre cheese was recorded as being sent to Edinburgh in due of Crown rentals, as other industries have come and gone the production of cheese has endured.
‘I am delighted that the council has supported this positive step to help maintain this important agricultural sector and I look forward as more local food producers are included in the future.’
