A guitarist who recently made national headlines after turning down the X Factor belted out dance numbers at a charity dance.

Matt McAllister played a mixture of covers and his own compositions during a charity birthday party to celebrate the Erskine family’s first year at Carradale hotel.

As the Courier went to press more than £500 had been raised from the event held last Saturday, for Alzheimer Scotland, although the total figure has not been finalised.

Partygoers sampled a sumptous buffet including some rather unusual fare such as deep fried breaded cullen skink.

Raffle prizes included four ball games from Carradale, machrihanish Dunes and Dunaverty, a £50 meal voucher from Carradale’s Dominic Ryan to be spent at the hotel and four those two tired to travel home the hotel staff gave donated a stay in one of its rooms.
