A former club champion’s return to form resulted in an excellent 67 to win the scratch prize at Dunaverty’s autumn meeting.
Very good weather conditions saw 25 members turned out for the meeting and compete for captain John McDowall’s special prizes for the winners of the handicap and scratch categories.
Scratch winner, George MacMillan’s prize was a bottle of Scappa whisky, glasses and a dozen Titleist golf balls.
Handicap winner Donald MacNeil walked away with a beautifully engraved crystal plinth, Calloway carry bag, umbrella and golf towel.
MacNeil played steadily to return a nett score of 63 to hold off John Brown by one spot and claim the day’s main prize.
At the presentation Captain John McDowall paid tribute to the superb work of greenkeepers David Scullion and Willy MacMillan who again presented the competitors with a course second to none.
Result: Handicap Section and main prize: 1 Donald MacNeil 69-6-63, 2 John Brown 77-13-64(bih), 3 Alex Arkell 78-14-64(bih), 4 Sandy Watson 75-9-66, 5 Bill Brannigan 79-12-67(bih), 6 John McDowall 82-15-67.
