BROWN – Alec and Kayleigh are delighted to announce the birth of their baby son Ruaridh Iain, born on August 5, 2017 at RAH Paisley, a wee brother for a delighted Calum. Thanks to all in attendance.
MCFLYNN – MACGREGOR – Both families are delighted to announce the marriage of Eilidh, daughter of Norma MacKenzie, Tarbert and Peter McFlynn, Glasgow, to Jamie, son of Gordon and the late Lesley MacGregor at Mar Hall, Bishopton, on August 12, 2017.
A fabulous day shared with family and friends.
BLACK – Peacefully at his home, after a long battle with dementia, borne bravely, on August 15, 2017, Gilbert Black, aged 85 years, of Torbhlaren Farm, Kilmichael Glassary, beloved and loving husband of Jean Grant, much loved dad of Janice and Gillian, adored papa to Douglas, Donald and Gordon and a much respected father-in-law. A good neighbour, dear friend to many, and a popular work colleague to many in the local farming community. Funeral service was held in Glassary Parish Church, Kilmichael, on Monday, August 21, 2017, followed by interment at Achnabreac Cemetery. Sadly missed.
BLACKADDER – Alistair, died suddenly in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on Saturday, August 19, 2017, age 53. Eldest son of Bruce and the late Marta Blackadder of Tobermory. Brother and brother-in-law of Neil and Trina. Much loved Uncle of Findlay and Ruaridh. Cremation will take place in Aberdeen, date to be arranged.
CAMERON – Murdoch John, aged 82, formerly of Ballachulish and son of the late Neil Cameron and Maria Dunn, suddenly at home on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, beloved husband of Susan, much loved father of Murdoch and Fiona, loving granddad to Rory, Erin and Joseph and father-in-law of Josephine and Kristofer.
MACDONALD – Chrissie (nee Simpson) Passed away peacefully at home at her beloved Fanmore on her native Isle of Mull on August 17 in her 71st year. Wife of the late Jimmy MacDonald, Mannal, Tiree. Devoted mum of Allison and Anne and mum-in-law of Tony and the late Colin. Loving sister of Anne and dear Auntie to many. A service will be held in Salen church on Monday August 28 at 11.30am. MACDONALD – A horrible darkness has fallen on our family as our beautiful loved Isobel, wife to Roni and mother to Gavin and Christopher, has been taken from us in a cruel and devastating way. Our hearts are broken our lives will never be the same. There will be a celebration of Isobel’s life at Oban Parish Church, Glencruitten Road, Oban on Saturday, August 26 at 11.00 am, thereafter to Achnaba Cemetery. The family requested bright colours be worn. Retiring collection/donations if desired for Breast Cancer.
MACNEIL – Peacefully in the care of Meallmore Lodge Care Home, Daviot, on August 20, 2017, Lachlan MacNeil, aged 83 years, R.I.P., formerly of Castlehill Gardens, Cradlehall, Inverness and Caol, Fort William, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, father-in-law and uncle. Funeral Mass today, Thursday August 24, at 11a.m. in St Barr’s R C Church, Northbay, Barra; thereafter to Eoligarry Cemetery. All welcome to attend. McNEILL – (Isle of Colonsay). Peacefully at Grant Crescent Maryburgh, on Friday, August 18, 2017, Donald (Gibby) aged 91 years, Beloved husband of Margaret, loving father to Fiona and Effie, a loving grandfather and great-grandfather will be sadly missed by all. Funeral service will be held today Thursday, August 24, 2017, at Church of Scotland, Scalisaig, Isle of Colonsay commencing at 1 p.m., thereafter to Kilchatten Burial Ground. YATES – In loving memory of Phyllis Anne Yates who passed away peacefully in her sleep at home, sister to Kay, Donald and Robbie, mother of Alistair, Stuart and Karen and grandmother, loving partner to Paul. The service will be held at noon on Friday August 25 at Kilmartin Church. The Rev Cliff Acklam will lead the service. Arrangements under the direction of Donald MacDonald, Lochgilphead.
MACCOLL – Donnie. Jeannie and family wish to convey their sincerest thanks to everyone for the overwhelming expressions of sympathy through cards, messages, visits and support following their sad loss of Donnie. Thanks in particular to Mr Billy McClymont for professional and compassionate funeral arrangements, Rev Johnny Paton for spiritual support and comforting funeral service, Mrs Elizabeth Jack for beautiful organ music, Mr Sandy MacAulay for uplifting accordion playing, Alexander Anderson for beautiful piping, all Elders supporting us in Salen Church and Claire and Gerry Ralston and staff at Salen Hotel for catering and refreshments. Our deepest gratitude to Donnie’s carers and the kitchen staff at Bowman Court, and to all medical staff on Mull for his care over the last five years. Memorial donations totalling £1520 have been made between Marie Curie Mull and Iona Group and to Heart, Chest and Stroke Scotland from generous donations made in memory of Donnie. Donnie has left us with many memories that we will treasure forever.
