Threatened thunderstorms never materialised and there was a great turnout for the mixed Texas scramble.

At the evening’s summer dance, following the scramble, golfers showed they have all the moves on and off the greens

The winning team of Andrew Kitson, Martin O’Neill, Lynsay McGeachy and Liz Mcghie were presented with the Neil McMurchy centenary trophy donated in Neil’s memory by his family in 2006 to commemorate Carradale golf club’s centenary.

Runners up were Emma Borthwick, Finlay Neilson, Anne Storm and Bob Owen and 3rd were Laura McGeachy, Martin Robertson, Sandy Galbraith and Gillian Kitson.

Prizes today were donated by seafood firm John Vallance. John Vallance was established in 1890 and is owned and run by the Neilson family who are long term members of Carradale golf club.

A club spokesperson said: ‘The club would like to extend special thanks to the following: The Neilson family for sponsoring and organising the competition, Roy McMurchy for presenting the trophy to the winners, greenkeeper Robert Strang for having the course in excellent condition, the golfers and clubhouse helpers for refreshments and making the afternoon such a success.’
