An 82 gross, 64 nett put Fraser MacBrayne in front at Dunaverty Golf Club’s junior championship.

Kyle Colville was runner-up at the event played on the same day as the children’s competition.

The latter event was postponed from the previous week and was played in glorious sunshine.

Scotland’s best known amateur lady golfer, Belle Robertson, who began her career at Southend aged 14, presented the prizes after an enthusiastic group of children aged from five to 12 battled it out.

They played a nine-hole, five-hole or flag event before testing their skills in a putting and chipping competition.

A spokesperson said: ‘The organisers would like to congratulate all participants who were rewarded for their skill and enthusiasm, with medals, goodie bags, juices and treats.

‘A big thankyou to parents and volunteers for helping on the day.’

The children’s competition results are: Nine holes: 1 Josh Arkell, 2 Mark Robertson, 3 Jamie Graham. Five: 1 Flint-Phoenix Barrett, 2 Ross Gorman, 3 Gail Campbell. Flag event: 1 Keira MacSporran, 2 Gracie Irvine, 3 Ellie Gorman. Chipping: 1 Mark Robertson, 2 Gail Campbell, 3 Flint-Phoenix Barrett. Putting: 1 Flint-Phoenix Barrett, 2 Ross Gorman and 3= Josh Arkell and Kiera MacSporran.
