A six-piece of songstresses will rock MOK Fest’s traditional concert with their Scottish folk sounds.

Vocal and instrumental band, The Shee, will headline this year’s traditional concert in Campbeltown Heritage Centre on August 19. They will be supported by singer songwriter Jim Malcolm, with Arthur Johnstone as MC.

The Shee are an exceptional all-female band showcasing powerful vocals and instrumental prowess. Nominated for both Folk Band of The Year and Best Live Act, the band has released three highly-acclaimed albums.

They have performed at some of the world’s best known music venues and festivals including Celtic Connections, Cambridge and the Scots Trad Music Awards, and have been described as ‘flirtatiously funky’ by The Scotsman.

With a wide range of influences, they produce an adventurous brew of folk, Gaelic and bluegrass music featuring original compositions alongside a wealth of traditional material.

Support act, singer songwriter Jim Malcolm, is the ultimate Scots troubadour.

His career began playing in folk clubs before joining the Old Blind Dogs and in 2004 he won the TMSA Songwriter of the Year award.  Jim has continued to travel the world with his guitar, harmonicas, and engaging wit, taking him to the most prestigious festivals in North America and around Europe.

Long-time festival favourite Arthur Johnstone will MC the concert.

Tickets for all festival concerts can be purchased from A P Taylors, Campbeltown, by phoning 08444 771 000 or going online at www.ticketweb.co.uk
