At a time where accurate information about Covid-19 was vital to our community, this was the right decision – even though it meant a drop in our income. In order to help safeguard the future of our journalism, the time has now come to reinstate our paywall.

CUNNINGHAM – Peacefully at Campbeltown Hospital, on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, surrounded by family, Peter DeFleece, of 54 Kirk Street, in his 79th year. Dearly loved son of the late Anthony W Cunningham and Catherine B McAllister, loving brother of Charles and the late Christine, Mary, Billy, Theresa and Catherine, and very much loved uncle and great uncle. Service will take place at 10.30am, on Monday, June 5, at St Kieran’s RC Church. Funeral thereafter to Kilkerran Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to St Kieran’s RC Church.
DOCHERTY – Peacefully, in the Campbeltown Hospital, on May 24, 2017, Agnes Docherty (Nessie), in her 85th year, 6 Benmore Street, Campbeltown, much loved wife of the late Duncan Docherty, loving mum of Duncan and Mhairi, beloved gran of Andrew and a loving mother-in-law of Richard and Mary.

Peacefully, on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, Kenneth, (former Minister of Kenmore Kirk, Perthshire), dearly beloved husband of the late Isobel and darling father of Angus, Kenny, Cameron and Jean. Much loved grandfather and great grandfather. Funeral service has already taken place.
MCCALLUM – Willam (Bill), in his 88th year, peacefully at home in Muasdale, Kintyre, after a brave battle. Dearly beloved husband of Colleen Scott and loving and proud father of Andrew, James, William and Kirsteen, loved grandfather of Finn, Corran, Misha, Kelsi, Jamie and Daisy, much loved and respected big brother to Andrew, Margaret, Eleanor, Elaine and the late May, dear father-in-law and loving uncle, and good friend and neighbour to so many over the years. Service in A’Chleit Church, on Saturday, June 3 at 1.00pm. A retiral collection will be held in aid of the Campbeltown District Nurses and Macmillan Nurses, Kintyre Locality. Family flowers only please. A cremation service will take place in Cardross Crematorium, on Monday, June 5 at 3.15pm. All friends are respectfully invited.
MCLEAN – After a short illness, at Auchinlee Care Home, Campbeltown, on May 27, 2017, Catherine McLean (Cathie), in her 89th year, 2 Benmore Street, Campbeltown, dearly beloved wife of the late Neil McLean, much loved mother of Janette, Alison and Ross, and a loving grandmother of Kirsty, Martin, Stephen and the late Euan. Funeral in the Highland Parish Church, on Monday, June 5 at 1.00pm, funeral thereafter to Kilkerran Cemetery. Friends please accept this intimation and invitation. Family flowers only please. TEESDALE – Peacefully, at the Lorn and Islands Hospital, Oban, on May 23, 2017, Jean Gardiner Teesdale, in her 88th year, Ardbeg, High Askomil, Campbeltown, dearly beloved wife of Ian Teesdale, loving mother of John, Elizabeth and Diana and a loving granny.
WHITEHEAD – The family of the late Hazel Ruth Whitehead, of Kintyre Gardens, would like to thank all friends and neighbours for their kind expressions of sympathy and everyone who attended the service at St Kiaran Episcopal Church, with special thanks to David McEwan for the professional way he officiated at the service. Thanks must also be passed to the Blair family for the efficient and caring way they organised the funeral and to the Ardshiel Hotel for the refreshments. Very special thanks to the emergency services, to the doctors and staff at Campbeltown Hospital and to the visiting nursing/caring staff who showed such care and kindness to Hazel.
