Members of the most secretive whisky association of all Whisky Free For All (WFFA), visited the Malts Festival from Wednesday to Friday.

The Facebook society has 104 members but it is impossible to ask to join.

The Courier caught up with five members, three from South Africa, one from England and a Scot.

Society members are from all walks of life, own many bottles, trade samples, meet at whisky events and hold an annual best distillery vote.

Last year’s winner with 376 points and 48 votes was Springbank, Aberdeenshire’s Glendronach was second followed by Islay’s Ardbeg.

Surprisingly these WFFA members agreed to let the Courier take their picture: Alex Ferreria, Grant Herholdt, Greg Sivills, Ed McGovern andand Theo Bucher, who all met through the Facebook society.
