Commercial Inn Open full entry

THE Commercial Inn Better Ball Open marked the last Open competition of the Machrihanish Golf Club season,which attracted a full entry.

Conditions were typical for the course with a wind assisted outward followed by the much tougher inward to test the field,playing in a pair’s format.

At the close of play in the handicap section it was the Flintstones pairing of Bob Tait and Hector Thomson who raced round the course with a net score of 62 to win comfortably by three strokes over Ranald Watson and Robert Coffield with a 65.

Nigel Stewart was rewarded for making the long trip up from Brighton with a third place,playing along with Charles McLellan,and also finishing with a 65.

The scratch prize went to Fergus Walker and Gavin Brown with 70.

Pupils are under the Feather

For the second season running the hospitality sponsors for Campbeltown Pupils AFC will be The Feathers Inn,in the town’s Burnside Square.

Carol Green from The Feathers presented Norman Thomson from the Pupils with a cheque on Monday evening.

Norman said the club was delighted to announce its continuing link with The Feathers and thanked Carol for her generous support.
