Town hall to be handed over to community group

c36main1noCampbeltown’s town hall is to have its ownership transferred from Argyll and Bute Council to the South Kintyre Development Trust (SKDT).

Announced by the council  on Thursday,May 23 2013,this transfer will allow SKDT to continue with plans to renovate the town hall into a place for the whole community to make use of.

Tarbert tenants in heating row with ACHA

20_c21fire01Housing association properties in Tarbert are lying empty because,it is claimed,they are damp after coal fires were removed;while other tenants are refusing to let Argyll Community Housing Association take out their fires and others face a huge hike in heating bills.

ACHA says for technical reasons it is not always possible to retain the fires and that tenants are given advice on the best way to use new electric heating.
