The workforce at Vestas who were threatened with redundancy, only to have the threat rescinded, can expect to find out their fate within the next eight weeks.

Making Campbeltown into a transition town would mean concentrating on growing more of our own produce and focusing on local resources available.

The result of the two organisations’ work and that of Argyll and Bute Council will be unveiled to the public in an open day at Aqualibrium on November 25.

The dubious honour of being the council in Scotland with the second highest number of kids suspended from school, 30, because of drink, has gone to Argyll and Bute; the first place goes to neighbouring Highland Council with 33. Glasgow City barred 22.

More than 150 people turned out to join in the service and watch the wreaths being laid on behalf of the council and organisations in the town.

Councillors have been looking at the question of parking and considered establishing a council-operated car park; Campbeltown is the only major town in Argyll and Bute not to have a council-maintained car park and everywhere else these are pay-and-display.

The committee decided to do this to stop the vandalism and illegal bonfires that happened in previous years; Strathclyde Police gave a donation from the Police Well Being Fund for the event.

It was a great success and more than 350 people went along to join in the fun and hot dogs and sparklers were available free of charge.

The squad were up playing at a park next to the stadium and thought it would be good to get a visit to the grounds and after John wrote a letter a tour was put on especially for them as they don’t usually take tours on a Saturday.
