THE Kintyre Cultural Forum has announced that its second arts and cultural seminar will be held on Thursday March 19 in Campbeltown Heritage Centre.
The results of its cultural needs audit will be announced and people and organisations can contribute to the discussions with architects and cultural representatives from across Scotland as well as workshops and discussions on other cultural issues.
Refreshments
There will be a social area with free refreshments where those attending and exhibiting can get a chance to find out more about what is happening in the area and discuss ideas for future events.
The first seminar was held in September 2007 and identified a need for further research into the potential for a local arts and cultural centre and a culturally-based website.
Workshops
The forum is also helping to organise fiddle and percussion tuition workshops and concerts in the Heritage Centre and the Kirk Street Hall, Campbeltown in the run up to the seminar.
These are being held in partnership with Kintyre Fiddlers, Kintyre Music and Arts Tuition Group and KADAS.
Evaluation from these events will also be included in the needs audit.
The forum has had a busy year, producing six issues of its newsletter and conducting a research visit to various cultural centres around Scotland.
Details are still being firmed up for the seminar but look out for more information in The Courier and in on-line notice boards for updates and programmes for the event will be available shortly beforehand.
The event will provide an excellent opportunity to discuss the potential for the centre and website and members of the public are encouraged to come and join in.
There is still time to contribute to the cultural needs audit; contact Project Worker Iain Johnston by Monday February 23 and if you have already have a questionnaire please return it as soon as possible.
