BOB Young has just been given a financial boost and a reason to keep a smile on his face despite all the doom and gloom in the world’s markets.

Delighted

More than a year after Spot the Ball was last won and the prize money rising to £2,950 a shocked but delighted Mr Young received a surprise visit from two of The Courier staff.

Mr Young, who works at West Coast Motors has been playing Spot the Ball for the past 10 years and has won the second or third prize a few times but never dreamt of scooping the jackpot.

He said: ‘I am completely over the moon and speechless. I always hoped I’d win it but you never expect these things.’

The last winner of the competition was Alice Russell in September 2007 who took £2,600 worth of winnings.
