SOME might call them mad, and some may envy them, but four golfers managed to complete 100 holes at Dunaverty Golf Club last week and it was all in aid of charity.

The four from Montrose, started their five and a half rounds at 5am last Monday and completed them at 10pm the same day.

They were raising funds for the MacMillan Cancer Support in Dundee, towards the McMillan Ward in the Ninewells Hospital.

They had raised over £2,000 thanks to generous donations from locals, including Campbeltown Motor Company and Dunaverty Golf Club, who allowed them to play for free all day.

Steven Tasker, Alan Tasker, Garry Tasker and Alan Walker decided to do the event after Steven and Alan’s father, Jim died of cancer in 2005.

Their cousin Garry and family friend Alan Walker joined the boys for the occasion.

They had all been coming to Kintyre for ten years as a family and Jim had been a member of Dunaverty for a few years, so they thought this would be appropriate to do the fundraising here.

Their partners and children were also in tow to keep the lad’s spirits up throughout the day.

They would like to thank Graeme McMurchy at Campbeltown Motors, Dunaverty Golf Club and everyone who showed their support and donated money.
