Justin Curie Band will be one of the MOK Fest 2008 headliners.

THE 16th Mull of Kintyre Music Festival promises yet another musical line up to please many tastes and age groups. While headlining at the Victoria Hall on Saturday 23rd with well known prolific artist Justin Currie of Del Amitri, support act, Attic Lights introduces a new up and coming Glasgow band, to Campbeltown audiences.

Justin who will be appearing with his full band The Justin Currie Band, also tours as a successful solo artist. Justin formed Del Amitri in the eighties writing the hits Nothing Ever Happens, Kiss This Thing Goodbye and Always The Last To Know.

Attic Lights who recently signed a five CD deal with Island Records are hotly tipped as one of the bands to watch out for this year.

Adding to the magic is Scotland’s top traditional band, Capercaillie who although performing at the festival for the third time play their first gig in the Picture House on Saturday night also.

This acoustic concert promises to be an unforgettable intimate experience and one the band is really looking forward to.

Supporting Capercaillie is Rod Paterson a celebrated performer of traditional song who has a marvellously rich and expressive voice and a reputation as an unequalled interpreter of the songs of Scotland.

The Festival Ceilidh on Friday 22nd also in the Victoria Hall offers all the family an evening that goes with a swing. Skipinnish, with accordionist Angus MacPhail and piper Andrew Stevenson leading the band, now built up a great reputation on the ceilidh scene.

The concert set will be provided by Bodega, a young five-piece Scottish band who formed in March 2005, they won the BBC Radio2 Young Folk Band award for 2005/06 before releasing their first self-titled debut CD on Greentrax in 2006. Gillian Frame who tutors the fiddle workshops in the Kirk Street Hall on the Thursday night opens the concert set. Playing fiddle and singing Gillian will be joined by Ross Kennedy and Rebecca Brown to form the unique trio of performers.

The Kintyre Schools Pipe Band will open the night in the Victoria Hall making it well worth turning up early.
