THE first ever Kintyre Songwriters Festival took place over the weekend and went better than anyone ever could have imagined.
Many people have described the both nights as ‘the best night they’ve ever had in Campbeltown’ and the organisers have been highly praised for the effort put into the weekend.
The festival was organised after Kenny Gilchrist and Ross McInnes came up with the idea and get together artists and bands.
But tragically Kenny died in January and Ross and Kenny’s friends and family vowed to go ahead with the festival and they certainly did him proud.
More than 15 artists and bands took to stages on Friday and Saturday night, with some performing for the first time.
MacGochans Pub played host to a number of new bands on Friday. The free event saw friends and family pack the pub and show their support for the new event which is hoped to become a yearly event.
On Saturday artists and bands took to the stage in the White Hart Hotel in what saw a sell-out gig and people travelling from far and wide to get a piece of the atmosphere over the course of the night.
