THE Pupils’ excellent victory last Saturday has put them in pole position for the Scottish Amateur Premier Division 1 title.
They have three games to play and three wins will see the local favourites crowned champions.
Despite having to make several changes to the line up notably goalkeeper Neil McKay with captain Craig Colville covering, the Pupils knew they had to win this game to keep their title challenge going.
They produced a very energetic performance to crush the home side’s promotion hopes.
Gary Grumoli opened the scoring at 22 minutes with Paul McWhirter doubling the Pupils lead at 33 minutes, Grumoli crossing from the left for McWhirter to force the ball over the line.
The Pupils’ third goal came early in the second half after a passage of play by Grant Grant and McWhirter combined to set up Alan Sinclair to cross for Mark Barrett and home a header from 16 yards.
Eaglesham were awarded a soft penalty at 77 minutes but Colville pulled off a fantastic save from Gowans.
The home side got their consolation goal at 88 minutes, Brown scoring with a low drive.
Tomorrow will see the Pupils play St Joseph’s at Kintyre Park, kick-off 2.30pm, which is set to be a tough challenge for them.
