Blackface breeders host stockjudging event at

AROUND 70 entrants took part in the annual Kintyre Blackface Sheep Breeders’ Association stockjudging competition.

The contest at Glencreggan Farm, Glenbarr, saw Lochgilphead farmer Robert Shaw judge the sheep which were provided by members.

It attracted competitors from across Argyll with a large contingent from local young farmers clubs.

Organisers would like to thank Adam and Lesley Armour for allowing the use of their sheep shed at Glencreggan, Argyll Bakeries for the catering and many local businesses which provided prizes.

Results:

Open competition, 1 Robert Shaw, Mid Argyll, 2 John Casey, Ballywilline, 3 Archie Clark, West Drumore;

Ladies: 1 Lorraine McPhail, Skernish, 2 Lorna Semple, Lochead, 3=Barbara Kirk, Oatfield and Nicola Gilmour, Largiemore;

Junior, 1 Greig Newlands, 2 Graeme Macmillan, 3 Arran McCallum.

Team prize: John Casey, Archie Clark, Andrew Reid, Campbeltown.

Young Farmer’s prize: Stuart Campbell, Ormsary, Mid Argyll.
