PRESIDENT of the Kintyre Agricultural Society, Archie Millar of Balegreggan Farm, was the host for this year’s Foal Show. Normally part of the Autumn Show incorporating cattle and sheep, restricted this year because of the foot and mouth restrictions, the Foal Show attracted a good number of spectators on a mild autumn day.

Judge for the day was Tom Tennant from Ettrick Bridge in Selkirk and there was a very satisfactory entry of foals, Clydesdales and other breeds. Matthew Ralston spoke for the Agricultural Society in thanking Archie Millar for hosting the show. He also paid tribute to the breeders for putting on a tremendous show and for keeping it going in difficult circumstances and to Donnie and Kate McKerral for presenting a new trophy for overall champion.

Overall champion and winner of the Donnie and Kate McKerral Trophy for Overall Clydesdale Champion was judged to be Malcolm McFadyen with the yearling colt Whinhill Lord of the Isles.

Champion foal was David MacPhail with Garcal-Fra Harry’s Lad, born on April 27, 2007 at Aros Farm.
