NEW equipment to help find out what clubs best suit a golfer and help improve their game has been introduced to Machrihanish Golf Club.
The Vector PRO launch angle monitor by Accusport uses two cameras on the monitor which is placed on the ground, which records the golf ball flight characteristics to find out what golf clubs are best suited to an individual.
The system helps a golfer to buy a single or set of golf clubs which best suit them and the way they hit the ball and golf pro Ken Campbell hopes to improve players technique by using this equipment.
The camera picks up on the ball’s launch angle, ball speed, the clubhead speed, the rate the golf ball spins at and the golf ball directional deviation from intended target.
Ken can then change the clubhead’s loft, lie angle and size to suit and also the shafts length, flex, kick point and weight which is all indicated on the computer screen.
A percentage out 100 is calculated and the higher the number the more suited the club is to you. The club would be changed until the percentage is as near to 100 as possible.
Ken now hopes to use this during lessons and hopes it will come in useful if someone is considering buying a new set of clubs.
Ken said: ‘If somebody is about to buy a new set of clubs, this can help to make sure it is the right type for them.
‘It allows us to get clubs to suit people’s game as well as helping to improve their golf.’
David Irwin used the Vector Pro system to find out what driver would suit him best. He said: ‘I went with Ken for a lesson and we went through all the clubs according to the Vector Pro.
‘I’m getting about 20 yards further and hitting the ball straighter.’
